Wingtip Sloat Chewyfoot LP/CD
Wingtip Sloat Chewyfoot LP/CD
1994 debut LP by this long running group of homeowners. I guess you could call this "indie rock" but it has none of the lame implications of that tag - it's neither overweening nor slavishly secondhand.
The 1994 debut LP by this long running group of homeowners takes the lame constraints of rock music and chucks them in the river. I guess you could call this "indie rock" but it has none of the lame implications of that tag - it's neither overweening nor slavishly secondhand. In the style of say Wire or Swell Maps, Wingtip take devices such as verses and choruses and split them into prickly shards of lyrical sound. Inventive, angular, occasionally angry, and yet possessing an offhand "catchy" charm that so many bands work hard to possess but can't. The expressionistic lyrics are good and given an appropriately pointed delivery. LP is in handmade covers, CD is in a bizarre full-color digipack, both come with a 16 page booklet of silly photos. 10 tracks, 40 minutes.
